Three magic words to better connect with your kids.

Your child’s internal life is getting more complex every day. As they move through 8, to 10, 12, and into their teens, they are discovering new things at an incredible rate. The world is exploding around them with new ideas, new friends and new challenges. And at the same time they are talking to you less and less.

How can you break through the screen time and mumbled responses and guarantee deeper and more rewarding conversations with your kids? I’ve got three words for you.

ROLL. FOR. INITIATIVE.

As a Dad, being a game master for my daughter has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It’s amazing how much you can learn from a person when they are being attacked by giant spiders.

Roleplaying with kids is an amazing way to get inside their brain and understand how they think, why they act the way they do, and even help them work through topics they might otherwise not want to discuss with adults.

For instance, I’ve discovered that roleplaying with my daughter is an amazing way to connect and work out issues and questions she has at school. Through her characters she is able to act out and express feelings and opinions she would normally keep locked away.

Having problems with the “Mean Girls”? Our next adventure hook features a snooty gang of stuck up wood elves. Scared about that big math test? How about we sneak into that spooky Wizard School on the hill and discover what’s really going on underneath those pointy hats?!

It’s just that easy.

This is why we started DnD Adventure Club. It’s an easy way to jump in and play DnD with your kids, even if you don’t know your d20s from your d12s. Check us out and get to know your kid’s inner Dragonborn Arcane Trickster.
