Survival

Survival is the multi-purpose ability check for navigating and staying safe in nature. Use Survival if the adventurers want to follow tracks, avoid getting lost, hunt for food, or watch for signs that monsters might be nearby. Survival is a WISDOM ability check.

To make a Survival check have the player roll a d20 and add their Survival bonus listed on their character sheet. If players aren’t proficient in Survival, use the player’s Wisdom bonus instead. If the total equals or is higher than the difficulty number listed in the text, they succeed.

Some common Survival checks in the woods around Tumbledowns might be:

  • Gather common herbs or mushrooms, Survival check of 8 or higher.

  • Forage enough food for a single meal, Survival check of 10 or higher.

  • Trap a wild animal, Survival check of 12 or higher.

  • Track a villager, Survival check of 14 or higher.
